HOR Publishes Insight Report: 'On the Go & Living Green'
Insight Retail’s Dutch partner House of Retail has published its insight report on two major trends in retail: On the Go & Living Green. This is part of House of Retail’s TRAIL programme in which trends are investigated and the insights are shared with clients in order to implement relevant findings. Therefore the report is presented to a number of clients in conjunction with a workshop to make the insights operational within the clients’ organizations.
The report is the result of extensive desk and field research, including two trips to New York and interviews with retailers who are shaping the future on these topics (Sarah Beatty, founder of Green Depot to mention one.) Lots of pictures are included of successful retailers and exciting new concepts.
Excerpt from the report:
Both trends have roots in the consumer need for convenience and experience. That in itself is almost a contradiction; we want it faster and easier, but we also want to experience the product and hear the story behind it.
The trend for sustainability is not just a retail trend, but is also seen in product and packaging development and on the whole could be considered a macro economical precondition. Companies who are just now going green run the risk of being judged as opportunistic. On the other hand it is still difficult for the individual consumer to choose a green product. Therefore, striving to deliver on both the On the go and the Living Green-promise is what it should be all about.
